How to get to Hardcastle Crags

Welcome to Hardcastle Crags.

Vehicles and bicycles are not allowed past certain points unless for disabled or local access making Hardcastle crags a walking destination.

By car:

There are two main car parks at Hardcastle Crags: Midgehole Car Park and Clough Hole Car Park.

  • Midgehole Car Park: This is the larger of the two car parks and is located on Midgehole Road, about 1.8 miles from Hebden Bridge railway station. The postcode for this car park is HX7 7AA.
  • Clough Hole Car Park: This car park is located on Clough Hole Road, about 2.2 miles from Hebden Bridge railway station. The postcode for this car park is HX7 7AZ.

From either car park, you will need to walk to access Gibson Mill and the crags. The walk from Midgehole Car Park is about 15 minutes, and the walk from Clough Hole Car Park is about 20 minutes.

By train:

The nearest train station to Hardcastle Crags is Hebden Bridge railway station. From the station, it is a 40-minute walk to Midgehole Car Park, or a 45-minute walk to Clough Hole Car Park.

By bus:

There are several bus services that stop in Hebden Bridge, which is a short walk from Hardcastle Crags. The nearest bus stop to the crags is Hebden Bridge Bus Station, which is about a 10-minute walk from Midgehole Car Park.

On foot:

You can walk to Hardcastle crags from Hebden bridge in around 40 minutes to 1 hour.

By Bicycle:

While Cycling is not permitted on the trust land it is possible to cycle to hardcastle crags.
