Walking your Dogs at Hardcastle Crags
Hardcastle Crags is a wonderful place to walk your dog. There are over 15 miles of footpaths to explore, ranging from easy to challenging. The paths take you through the woodland, past waterfalls, and up to the stunning views from the Crags.
Dogs are welcome on all of the paths at Hardcastle Crags, and they are even allowed inside the Weaving Shed Café.
It is National trust policy that all dogs are under control at all times or on a lead and that dog mess must be cleared up and put into the dog poo bins provided.
However, there are a few things to keep in mind when walking your dog at Hardcastle Crags:
- Be aware of your surroundings: There are a number of other people and dogs using the paths at Hardcastle Crags, so it is important to be aware of your surroundings and keep your dog under control.
- Pick up after your dog: There are bins for disposing of dog waste along the paths. Please make sure to pick up after your dog and dispose of the waste responsibly.
- Keep your dog on a lead: Some of the paths at Hardcastle Crags are quite steep, and it is important to keep your dog on a lead in these areas.
- Be aware of the wildlife: Hardcastle Crags is home to a variety of wildlife, including birds, deer, and foxes. Please be respectful of the wildlife and do not disturb them.

It is important to be prepared for all weather conditions. Pack a raincoat and umbrella for yourself and your dog, just in case.
